Hey everyone 👋 I built Vidtools because I kept running into the same annoying loop. Every time I needed to do something simple with a video, like trim a clip, convert a format, or pull the audio out, I ended up on some random site that made me upload my file, wait in a queue, sit through ads, and then slap a watermark on the result or hide the download behind a signup. It always bothered me that my files were being sent to someone else's server just to do a basic edit. So I wanted to see if I could do the whole thing in the browser instead, with nothing ever leaving your device. That turned into vidtools. Everything runs locally using WebCodecs and ffmpeg.wasm, so your files stay on your machine the entire time. No uploads, no accounts, no watermarks, no file size paywalls. Just open a tool and use it. The build taught me a lot. Getting real video processing to run smoothly client-side was harder than I expected, especially around performance and browser compatibility, and it pushed me to learn a ton along the way. It is also available in 21 languages since I wanted it to be useful to people everywhere, not just English speakers. It is still early and I am actively improving it, so I would genuinely love your feedback. If there is a tool you wish existed or something that feels clunky, tell me and I will look into it 🙏
