Hey everyone! I’m Ivan, the developer behind VideoScape 👋
The idea started pretty simply: I wanted to use my own videos as live wallpapers on my Mac, but most of the apps I found either felt outdated or focused mainly on preset wallpaper libraries. So I decided to build a cleaner, native alternative centered around personal videos.
Over time, the project grew beyond wallpapers. I added recent-video management, display controls, desktop widgets, and a notch music controller so the app could make the desktop both more personal and more useful.
This is my first published Mac app, and getting it through development and App Store review took a lot of small redesigns, fixes, and lessons. I’d really appreciate any feedback, especially on the onboarding, interface, and which widgets or features you’d like to see next.
The fit and fill controls are a thoughtful touch, since most wallpaper apps make you crop your video in a separate app first. Really nice that it lives natively on the Mac.
Love the notch music controller idea, that's a clever touch. One thing I'd love to see is the ability to set video wallpapers to rotate on a schedule, like a different clip each morning when I start work. Would make the desktop feel fresh without me having to think about it.
