Hey Product Hunt! 👋 Maker here. I built this because I wanted a jog wheel for editing video but didn't want to spend 100+ bucks on a dedicated hardware — when I already have a perfectly good touchscreen in my pocket. Even when you are on a trip: you don't have to carry separate hardware. What it does: install a small companion server on your computer (Windows/macOS/Linux), connect your phone over Wi-Fi, and it becomes a jog wheel + button controller for DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, and Final Cut. Scrub frame-by-frame, cut, and mark — hands off the keyboard. Under the hood: Flutter for one iOS + Android codebase, and a WebSocket desktop server that simulates the keypresses. It's free to download, with an optional one-time premium unlock. On security & privacy: the app only talks to your computer over your own local Wi-Fi — there's no cloud, no account, and no data ever leaves your network. Your phone has to be paired with a one-time code (scanned from a QR the desktop app shows), and every command it sends is signed with an HMAC-SHA256 signature derived from that pairing code, plus a timestamp. A device that doesn't have your code can't authenticate or forge a valid command — the server simply rejects it and drops the connection. So nobody else on the network (or anywhere) can hijack your editor, and there's no login or personal data to leak in the first place. I'd love your honest feedback, especially from anyone who edits video. What would make this indispensable for your workflow? Thanks for checking it out! 🙏

Comment highlights

works way better than i expected for scrubbing through timelines, feels almost like a real jog wheel in my hand

how much latency are we looking at over wifi, especially on a regular home network? that part worries me since id be using this for actual edits not just demoing it

how smooth is the latency in real time editing sessions? i edit mostly in resolve on a beefy pc and worry about lag throwing off my cuts

This is a clever idea. Turning a phone into a wireless jog wheel makes a lot of sense, especially for people who edit videos but don’t want to buy or carry extra hardware. I like that it works over local Wi-Fi and supports tools like DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, and Final Cut Pro. Definitely worth trying if you want a lighter, cheaper editing setup.
