I trek solo in the Himalaya, and every app I tried was built for somewhere else.
They'd draw a line on a map and tell me nothing about what actually decides a day: where you can pitch a tent, how far it is to the next one, how much you climb before the pass. Then they'd stop working the moment I lost signal, which on these trails is most of the time.
The other thing that bothered me was itineraries. Every trek has exactly one published schedule — whichever company you booked with wrote it. But a trail has more campsites than any single operator uses. If you're walking on your own, deciding where your days end should be yours to do.
So I stopped trying to cover everywhere and built for one mountain range. Trail geometry from OpenStreetMap, elevation sampled every 100 m from Copernicus 30 m terrain data, everything cached on the phone before you leave. Android, free, currently a handful of treks across Himachal, Uttarakhand and one in Nepal.
It's early and deliberately narrow — I'm adding treks one at a time and checking each against published itineraries and pass altitudes. If you've walked any of these and something reads wrong, I'd really like to hear it.
