I'm a solo developer, and Veil is the photo vault I always wished existed.
Every "private photo" app I tried did one of three things I hated: bombarded me with ads, lost my photos when I switched phones, or used a fake lock that anyone could get around. So I built the opposite.
Veil is built on three ideas:
🔒 No ads, ever. Just a one-time purchase — no subscription, no "pay $155/year to hide your photos."
☁️ Never lose your photos. End-to-end encrypted iCloud sync means a wrong password is mathematically unreadable, but your own password restores everything on a new phone.
🎭 Protects you under pressure. This is the part I care about most. If someone forces you to open your phone — a jealous partner, a thief, a checkpoint — you type a *decoy* password. It opens a separate, completely harmless album. Your real photos stay invisible. There's also an intruder selfie: the front camera quietly captures whoever types the wrong password.
One thing I want to be honest about: the decoy password protects you in the moment of being pressured. It is NOT designed to defeat professional forensic analysis, and I won't pretend it is. I'd rather under-promise than mislead you about your own safety.
Everything except the 15-photo limit is free — decoy, intruder capture, disguise icon, and E2E sync all stay free for everyone. The one-time $19.99 only removes the limit.
