I'm excited to finally share Vaak with you all.
The why: I kept hitting the same wall. Every voice-to-text tool I tried either lived in its own app (copy, paste, repeat), shipped my audio off to some server, or both. I just wanted to press a key, talk, and have the words land wherever my cursor already was. So I built it.
What Vaak does: Press Option+V anywhere on your Mac, speak, and your words appear in the app you're already using. Gmail, Slack, VS Code, Notion, Messages, terminal, whatever. A tiny pill sits at the top of your screen (can be minimized too) while you talk, and silence auto-stops the recording.
The part I care most about: It's 100% on-device. Vaak runs locally on your Apple Silicon GPU with Metal acceleration. Zero network calls for transcription. No audio is stored, uploaded, or logged anywhere. Your voice never leaves your Mac. Period.
