I kept running into the same pattern: a genuinely simple task (redact a PDF, resize a passport photo, convert a HEIC file) locked behind a paywall, a daily limit, or a mandatory upload to some server I didn't fully trust.
So I started building single-purpose tools that just run in the browser — no backend, no accounts, nothing leaves your device. Canvas, WebAssembly, and a few days of stubbornness.
