What if cities could talk to you as you walk?

Hey everyone, I’m Leandro, founder of Urban Tales.

The idea came from a frustrating moment in my first trip to Europe:

I was walking through incredible places full of history… but every time I wanted to learn something, I had to stop, search, read — and by then, I had already moved on.

Traditional audio guides help, but they’re expensive ($30–50 per city), rigid, and often feel outdated.

So I built Urban Tales:

Just open the app, put your phone in your pocket, and as you walk, stories about the places around you start playing automatically. No schedules. No groups. No stopping.

It works in any city, in your language, and in different styles depending on your mood — from historical deep dives to fun facts or local legends.

We just launched on iOS and Android, and I’d love your honest feedback.

What would make this a “must-have” for your next trip?

Comment highlights

Very interesting! I got to know landmarks in my own city that I didn't even know about. It is perfect for traveling and discovering more about the world!

I liked the app’s concept, especially the “pocket mode” dynamic for exploring places, but I didn’t quite understand the free daily points. What can I actually do with them and how do I use them?

This might actually make me walk more when visiting new places. Does it have a social component?

This looks perfect for solo travel. One of the hardest parts when exploring alone is not having context about what you’re seeing, this solves that in a really natural way.

Indeed it feels like a much better value than paying for individual audio guides.

How does the coin system work in practice?
