Hey everyone! After months of planning and development, we're opening the doors to the future of email - launching here on Product Hunt 🎉 In 2023 I was super frustrated at the state of email, how much chaos there is, the lack of flexibility, the endless stream of random junk - let alone the privacy 👀 I prefer chat apps, its quicker faster, more direct less of"Dear So&So, blahblah chatgpt, Yours Truly - think of the trees dont print please" and more of "you want pizza?" 🍕 I’ve used almost every email system there is, they all have their advantages, but they’re all based on email and have to work around its limitations. So I decided to build it, and build it open source so it can live on forever 💪 Heres what we’ve got so far: ✅ - fully standalone system, and can work in tandem with another mail service - full support for custom domains, add as many as you want - email threads are conversations, emails are messages - post internal comments in conversations for you and your team to see - add as many email addresses as you want/need - add a group (sales), give it an email address (sales@) choose who can receive and send from it - strip signatures and junk from emails - super fast sending and receiving Here’s whats coming very soon: ⏰ - advanced routing of emails: send to different people based on criteria (content, time, etc) - webhooks: email matching certain criteria? send via webhook to your app, slack, discord etc - multi threaded conversations: put all emails with the same people in one thread - tags: sort and organize your convos - API sending: shoot a quick email via raycast or your app - snooze: hide convos till a certain time, or till a new message arrives And we’re just getting started, but its too exciting to share everything right now Best part: UnInbox is fully open source + privacy friendly → https://git.new/un Its still early days, but we’ve got big dreams, big drive and a big mission 🚀 We’ve put a lot of thought, love and care into UnInbox, and we really hope you like it. We would love to hear your dreams and wishes for email because we’re actually building it! Thanks for your support 🙏 Join our discord for the launch day party; links on homepage

First of all congrats on the launch! Really cool idea to take over from some of the chat or messenger platforms and allow the same feel of conversation to happen over email. I like the website design and UI. I have a couple of notes after reviewing it: - Love the design delight when scrolling over the feature cards. - I found the image next to the video on the landing page was a little too zoomed out for my eyesight :P the ability to click in and see the UI in a larger image or even a little more zoomed in would be a great addition to the homepage. - Love the proactivity of placing the PH Product of the Day badge front and centre on the landing page after just a few hours (congrats by the way). - Did you guys consider a one time payment instead of the subscription model for a product like this? - The Appsmith card on the /oss-friends page needs a quick check Best of luck to you and the team at UnInbox

Hey, @mcpizza0 this looks amazing we will be planning to use UnInbox in our system. Also btw we did a quick analysis of your UX score with our platform: https://uxpulse.co/analyze?url=h...

This is by far one of the best projects I checked during this week! "Reinventing" the idea of e-mails like chats is surprisingly clever, and it works perfectly. Also, your landing page is *SICK*, everything is smooth like butter, beautiful. Completely deserves my upvote.

Congratulations guys! Good job. Can you elaborate on the "chat first" approach of UnInbox? Best regarts

Game changer! Would love to never wake up to a "RE: RE: RE:" in my inbox ever again ✨

great idea and clearly you are super talented. the onboarding process is too long imo. i also think you have to think deeply about who your customer is. 2FA and password length checkers will scare away the users who likely value all their comms in one place - or you end up with just power users (which isn't the largest market) trim the fatty features and this product will go a long way!

Claimed @spare and sent my first email! Seamless onboarding. Big fan of the dressed-down chat-like UX. Congrats on the launch, Omar.

- can't report a bug clicking the [bug] button - can't comment a message [error bad_request] and [couldn't reply to this conversation] - can't answer an email [the same previous errors] Ok, maybe this is not the best place to report bugs... sorry. BTW there are comments that argue for using email like an IM. I can remember another similar app, spike email, that has the same approach. And maybe there are more, so, UnInbox does have a place and people to live and grow. I would use it. If only I could answer an email. 🤣🤣🤣 But, believe me, you are in the good path. And I am a patient person. I'll wait. 😀

Congratulations on the launch of UnInbox! @mcpizza0 This open-source modern email system for teams and professionals promises a revolutionary approach to email communication. With its chat-first approach and native collaboration features, UnInbox is set to redefine the email experience. Sounds like a game-changer! What powerful automations and integrations can users expect in the future updates of UnInbox? Excited to see how UnInbox transforms the way we manage emails!

I understand that it is created to be bridge b/w email and IM. But I think it breaks the fundamental role of emails. Emails are perceived as formal, permanent and complete letter form of communication. Unibox experience making it completely opposite.

I'm not sure about who this might be ideal for but kudos to the team for being brave enough to explore the email field with a fresh mindset. Well done and all the best!
