I built this after realizing every screen-time tool I'd tried was basically the same idea: a number, a notification, a button to dismiss it. The notification fires, you dismiss it, you keep scrolling. The whole category is built on guilt, and guilt has a 100% bypass rate.
So I tried something different: a companion instead of a counter.
In Unfried you name a fry. Every minute on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, or any app you choose,drains its time bar. The fry sweats, then sweats harder, then starts to char. When the timer runs out, it's done, quiet R.I.P. screen, joins the Fryward memorial with its name and how long it lived. You name a new one and start fresh. No revival, no undo.
What's surprised me most is how attached people get. They close TikTok not because a timer went off, but because their fry is wobbling. That's the whole product.
