Wow!! I have been using a few of the AI features already, but I love the new layout. It's a huge UI / UX improvement. Underlord is also such a cool name befitting the exciting launch!
Just a bit miffed that as a Creator plan member, I'll be limited to 20 uses of Underlord's capabilities, but that seems reasonable right now where my team is at.
The new features and seamless editing make podcasting and audio projects easy to deploy. It's little complex to understand but its give the control over the project we work on so yeah Im really excited to try this product. Huge props to the Descript team for always pushing the envelope.

I love Descript, but this launch looks like the AI features that Descript already has, with a better UI. My guess is it will give them reason to take the AI features out of beta and start charging for some of them. When they announced Underlord, I thought it was going to be an AI assistant that learns how I edit my projects and emulates it, lessening my reliance on my human assistant. Hopefully someday.
Loving being a Descript customer. It really made podcasting so simple for me (after trying supposedly custom built podcast tools like Riverside etc which were totally wonk). Now its just Zoom & Descript and done. Also nearly spat my cornflakes to see it was Andrew Mason behind it. Shouldn't have been suprised - Detour was also great and can totally see how Descript came from a pain he no doubt intensely felt whilst building those stories.
I've been using Descript as my full time podcast and audiogram editor for two years now. Every six months they do something amazing. Underlord has made their early AI tools so much more powerful and convenient. Descript is how people new to audio and video can learn with a pretty intuitive tools and experts can cut out a lot of the drudgery and really focus time and energy on creating and storytelling.
Uploaded a video today, tried to get rid of ums and retakes but didn't work for me. I clicked on the menu on the right and chose both. The ums made a list but do I need to go in and delete everything myself? The retakes just stayed there. Would really like to get this to work, its a game changer!
The video really met the moment, from @andrewmason's Jenson Hwang black leather jacket to Laura trolling herself with skepticism — well done! Makes me feel like the content marketer role is definitely nearly obsolete!
Very excited to try this new version with the Underlord. Descript has saved me so many hours that I can record and turn around a finished Podcast the same day, often within a couple of hours. Looking forward to the new features.

I have been using Descript for the past year to edit my podcast. Overall I don't mind the changes, but I am not thrilled that they will be limiting some of the ai functions that were standard before. I have successfully been using the creator plan and have loved features such as studio sound and YouTube descriptions. It says it will limit my uses soon. I don't understand why introducing something new should double my cost, by upgrading plans, if it will not provide me with anything new.
As a content creator who's always felt limited by my video editing skills, Underlord feels like a breath of fresh air. The idea of an AI assistant that understands the creative process and takes care of the tedious tasks is a dream come true. This could be a game-changer, allowing me to focus more on the content itself and less on the technicalities of editing.
