Hey Product Hunt 👋
If you make music with studio monitors in a normal room, you've probably heard it: one bass note that booms while others disappear. That's not your speakers. It's your room.
Unboom finds that note and turns just that part down:
Sit where you normally listen
Let it scan with your Mac's mic (or tap "That's the boom" by ear)
Pick Gentle, Medium, or Strong
Flip Correction On/Off and hear the difference
After that it sits in your menu bar and corrects all Mac audio on those speakers. Each room remembers its speakers, headphones are left alone, it never boosts, and nothing is saved or sent.
Free download with a 14-day trial, then a one-time $19.99 launch price (regular $29.99). Scans are always free.
I'd love to hear what your room sounds like before and after. 🙏
"never boosts" is the detail that makes this trustworthy instead of just another EQ preset, cutting one resonant note is a lot safer than anything that pushes gain elsewhere and risks clipping or exciting a different mode. question on the mic scan: if I move the desk or swap speakers, does it know to prompt a rescan, or is it on me to remember that the room's acoustic signature just changed and go redo it manually.
Never boosts" is the right call - most room correction tools make things worse by pushing up the nulls. How does the mic scan cope with a laptop's built-in mic, which rolls off right where the problem frequencies are? And does the correction apply system-wide or per output device?
This could be really useful for people working with music in small home studios where proper acoustic treatment isn't practical.
