I'm excited to introduce Umbra.
Like many developers, I spend long hours in the browser, especially at night. Most dark mode extensions simply invert colors, which often creates harsh contrast, unnatural colors, or readability issues.
Before building Umbra, I spent time reading research on dark mode, color perception, visual ergonomics, and human-computer interaction to better understand what actually makes interfaces more comfortable to look at—not just darker.
Those ideas shaped Umbra's design. Instead of pure black inversion, it applies carefully balanced colors, detects websites that already provide their own dark theme, and minimizes the bright white flash that often appears while pages load.
Everything runs locally in your browser—no accounts, no tracking, and no personal data collection.
