I'm Gary — I install CCTV and home security systems across Yorkshire, UK, and I built this because I was tired of the two bad options homeowners get when they're deciding whether they actually need security cameras:
1. Vague marketing pages saying "crime is rising, buy now"
2. National retailers pushing a generic package with no idea what your area, or your house, actually needs
So I built something that starts with real numbers instead. Enter your postcode and it pulls live crime data straight from data.police.uk (the UK government's own police API) — actual reported burglary, robbery, theft and vehicle crime within a mile of that address, not a national average or a sales estimate.
From there it moves into a calculator: tell it your property type and it recommends a camera count, resolution, and NVR storage setup that actually matches your home, rather than a one-size-fits-all bundle.
A few things I made sure of:
→ No sign-up, no email capture — just useful straight away
→ Free to embed on your own site if you're in the industry or run a local blog, it's a single iframe
→ Built on official public data, not scraped estimates
