A clean, distraction-free typing speed test. Choose your category (prose, code, etc.), difficulty, and duration. Track WPM and accuracy. No account required, no ads in the way — just you and the keyboard. Built by a dev, optimised for devs.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
I built Typewriter Speed Tester because the existing typing test sites were either cluttered with ads, locked behind accounts, or only used generic prose passages. I wanted something clean and fast that also had code-specific content — because typing speed matters differently when you're typing brackets and semicolons all day.
It's completely free, no login required. You pick your category, difficulty, and test duration, hit go, and get your WPM and accuracy back instantly.
A few things I'd love feedback on:
- Are there content categories you'd want to see? (SQL? Bash? TypeScript?)
- Does the difficulty curve feel right?
- Any friction in the flow that I should remove?
Happy to answer any questions below. Thanks for checking it out!
Does it treat symbols and indentation differently, like not killing your score for a couple missing braces?
