Hey Product Hunt! 👋

I'm on the marketing team at Typeless, and I'm thrilled to finally share what we've been working on!

From a marketing perspective, here's why Typeless is different:

The Core Message:

"The keyboard was a mistake" - this isn't just a tagline. It's a fundamental truth about how we work. We think at 150 words per minute but type at 40. That gap is where productivity dies.

Our Positioning:

We're not selling "another dictation tool." We're selling a paradigm shift: Speak, don't type. 🚀

Key Differentiators We're Highlighting:

1. Intelligence, Not Just Transcription

  • No filler words, no repetition - your thoughts come out clear

  • Writes what you meant to say, not just what you said

  • This is the message that resonates most in user testing

2. Context Awareness

Most dictation tools are one-size-fits-all. Typeless adapts:

  • Casual tone in chat apps

  • Professional tone in email

  • Concise tone in docs

This is a huge unlock for professional users who've been burned by "robotic" dictation before.

3. Real-World Usability

Whisper mode is our answer to "I can't use voice dictation in public." We're designing for actual work environments, not ideal conditions.

The Two New Superpowers:

✍️ Writing Assistance - Select text → speak commands like "make this professional" or "fix grammar"

📖 Reading Assistance - Select text → speak queries like "summarize this" or "find action items"

These features extend Typeless beyond input - now it's your AI writing partner for everything.

Platform Availability:

We've launched on both Windows and Mac to reach the broadest audience of desktop professionals.

What We're Hearing from Early Users:

  • "Finally, dictation that doesn't embarrass me"

  • "I can write emails 3x faster"

  • "Whisper mode is a game-changer for open offices"

I'd love your feedback on:

  • Does "the keyboard was a mistake" resonate with you?

  • What would make you switch from typing to voice?

  • Which use case excites you most - emails, docs, notes, or something else?

Your feedback helps us refine our messaging and build what users actually need. Thanks for the support! 🙏

Comment highlights

I've been an early user of Typeless, and it's hands down the best app on Mac for voice dictation. Among all the STT apps I've tried, Typeless stands out with its accuracy and ease of use. It's become my daily driver. I've recommended it to many of my friends, everyone loves it and uses it regularly. Great job and congratulations@huang_song_, @yuki1028 @krystal_wuu and @Typeless team.

Great app. Simple but very useful! It would be cool to have a feature to search for information to insert into text. For example, I’m writing an email to an investor about a startup, and I need to add some important figure, like market size or something similar. While dictating, I could use a voice command to find and insert the needed information.

Can I customize the output structure? I have specific fields I need for my use case.

Can it detect sentiment or tone in text? Like identifying positive vs negative customer feedback?

Huang is the best founder I ever met, and I found Typeless really helpful when I chat on Whatsapp or write email. Maybe they can improve the onboarding process @justin2025

This looks amazing! Does it work with non-English languages? I have a lot of Spanish client feedback to organize.

You know what? I use Typeless to insert this comment here and this totally change my user experience. In the future, there won't be keyboard and voice is the right keyboard. For hundreds of years, human being are using the wrong input method, and typeless is the one which will change the history. Go, typless team!

I truly believe the future is voice, and this feels like a leap in that direction. What is the accuracy you are seeing?

Congrats on the launch. I like how typeless can help organize the ideas to a clear list.

⭐ What I loved

As someone who writes a lot of emails/notes/doc-drafts, I found myself progressively more frustrated with typing. With Typeless it really feels different. I can speak naturally, and the “What I meant to say” version shows up: filler words vanish, thanks-but-no-thanks looped phrase cleans itself up, and the tone adapts (chat vs email vs doc) as the team promises.

The feature that stood out most: whisper mode. In an open-office or shared space, being able to speak quietly (and still have it picked up) is a game changer. Also: the ability to select text and speak commands (“Make this professional”, “Summarize in 3 bullets”) makes it more than just “voice to text”, it becomes a writing partner.

For my workflow (multi-window, desktops, typing heavy) it saved me both time and friction, less “think -> type -> correct” and more “think -> speak -> polish”. 👍

I must say i am intrigued, although not quite convinced. I'll be looking into the applications that can come out of Typeless in my professional and personal life. Thanks and best of luck.

As someone who thinks in bullet points and random notes, this tool speaks my language. Finally!
