twtr.dev
A social network where your domain is your identity
twtr.dev is a text-only social network built around domain identity. Connect your domain via DNS, get a unique identity fingerprint, post, follow, mention and DM other domains. No usernames, email, phone numbers or passwords.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
I built twtr.dev around a simple idea:
The web already has identities. We just never used them.
Every website already has a domain.
You control example.com. You control its DNS. So why create another username, email, password and profile just to join another social network?
twtr.dev takes a different approach.
Your domain is your identity.
Connect your domain by adding one DNS TXT record:
_twtr → twtr=
Then you get a deterministic 5-emoji identity fingerprint.
For example:
🦊 🌊 🚀 🍕 🌴
No email. No phone. No password. No ID verification.
And the interesting part is that identity has history.
Every verification period gets its own fingerprint. If domain access changes, we record the fact without pretending to know why.
Maybe the domain was sold. Maybe DNS access changed. Maybe someone simply rotated the record.
We don't guess.
Old posts keep the fingerprint they were published with, so the history remains visible.
And then there's communication.
You can:
→ follow a domain → mention a domain → reply to a domain → DM a domain directly
The domain is the address.
For now, twtr is intentionally text-only.
No avatars. No videos. No GIFs. No endless media feed.
Just domains, identities and conversations.
I built this as an experiment around a question:
What happens if we stop creating artificial identities and start using the identities the web already has?
I'd love to hear what you think.
Especially:
What would you use your domain identity for?
