Hey Product Hunt 👋 I'm Oliver, and I build Smashphone on my own.
It started in June as a weekend hack: swinging a tiny M5Stack Cardputer like a badminton racket, with a browser as the court. It was so much fun I wanted everyone to try it, and everyone already carries a better motion sensor in their pocket. So it became an iPhone app.
How it works:
1. Open the app. Your iPhone becomes the racket.
2. Open smashphone.app on any big screen (laptop, iPad, monitor) and type the code.
3. Swing. No console, nothing to install on the screen.
Most of my time went into the swing itself. The phone reads the direction and force of every stroke: swing up for a clear, down for a smash, sideways to place it, a soft touch for a drop shot.
What's in it today:
• Badminton, tennis, ping pong and pickleball, against the computer or a friend
• Online matches with anyone, anywhere (both cities show up on the court)
• Apple Watch as a wrist racket, or the phone as racket and court when no screen is around
• Smash Beat, a rhythm mode, and Balloon Sniper when you want a break from rackets
• Every match logs as a workout in Apple Health
Badminton against the computer is free. Everything else is one plan: monthly, or a one-time lifetime unlock.
