Hi, I am Eldad, the maker of TrimDown.
I kept hitting the end of the context window. The cause: large PDFs cost far more tokens than the same words in Markdown. So I started to convert my PDFs first.
I wrote my long prompts in Word, to review them. Then I needed the AI's answer back as a client-ready Word document in my own template. I found nothing on the Mac that did that round trip. So I made it.
What it does:
- Imports Word, PDF, PowerPoint, Excel, HTML, EPUB, CSV, TXT, JSON, XML, a web page by address, or a scanned picture (on-device OCR) as clean Markdown.
- Turns the model's Markdown answer into a real .docx in your Word template: fonts, heading styles, header, footer. Pictures and Mermaid diagrams go in as real pictures. PDF export too.
- Live preview, find and replace, right-to-left text.
Token counts (Anthropic token counting API, Claude Opus 5):
- My own 3,000-word spec with 22 screenshots: 45,458 tokens as a PDF, 6,788 as Markdown. That is 85% fewer.
- A real 27-page analyst report: 66% fewer.
- A dense, almost all-text annual report: 17% fewer. That is the floor.
