Turn boring Scrum tasks into a game. Tricer tracks time automatically in the background, captures quick notes for your daily, and brings teams together with AI-powered, gamified retros. Track time, vote poker stories, and grow your team Dino!
Hey Product Hunt community!
I’m the creator of Tricer, and I’m incredibly excited (and a bit nervous!) to share it with you all today.
The story behind Tricer actually started out of pure personal frustration. I just wanted a lightweight tool that would run in the background, automatically track my time based on my active Git branches, and sync it seamlessly with Jira without me having to open a browser every hour.
I built a tiny macOS menu bar app called Jirasaur, and my team instantly fell in love with it. But when I tried to push it to the Atlassian Marketplace, things got complicated. Long story short: Atlassian wasn't thrilled about the name. 😂
That roadblock turned out to be a blessing in disguise. It forced a complete rebranding, a fresh new look, and gave me the push to expand the app into what it is today: Tricer - a complete 3-in-1 ecosystem designed to supercharge the daily Scrum workflow.
Today, Tricer consists of three modules that feed into each other:
⏱️ Time Tracker (macOS): Automates Jira tracking via Git branch switches. It now includes a Quick Note clipboard to snap notes during coding and get automated daily standup summaries of what you did yesterday. (Next up: Git worktree support!).
📝 Retro Board: Our most mature tool. Fully time-boxed team retrospectives with dynamic speaker timers, AI-generated insights, and a deep gamification system where your team earns XP, unlocks achievements, and grows a virtual Dino pet.
🃏 Planning Poker (web, beta): Real-time story estimation. The ultimate goal? Use your exact history from the Time Tracker to back up future estimations with real data, enhanced by AI.
The name itself is honestly the hook for me, then you open it and the little growing dino tied to your team's momentum is such a clever way to make standups feel less like a checkbox. Really well-executed little detail.
