TrekGuard is a free Android app for safer high-altitude trekking. Plan routes, import GPX, download maps, check mountain weather, track altitude, log AMS symptoms, backtrack, and use SOS tools — built Nepal-first, useful worldwide.
I'm super excited (and also slightly nervous) to finally release TrekGuard
TrekGuard was created due to the fact that most treks usually take place in areas where no Internet connection exists, and many trekking applications do not work properly or at all because of this problem, or simply lack some key features.
That's why I decided to create my own.
TrekGuard is a combination of offline maps, navigation with the help of GPX files, current weather conditions, altitude meter, off track warnings, backtrack, high-altitude illness self-examination, SOS features and other stuff in one application, created specifically for trekking.
A huge amount of evenings have gone into this development and I am constantly working on its improvement.

Who hunted TrekGuard?
TrekGuard was hunted by Bikal Shrestha. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
