This started with something I kept seeing at mid-market companies. They sit on years of data in their ERP, but getting a straight answer out of it means SQL, an export, or waiting on someone in IT (or tech). So they buy a BI tool, build a few dashboards, and within a month nobody opens them.
The problem was never the dashboards. It was that every BI tool waits for you to ask the right question. And the most expensive problems are the ones you did not know to ask about. The customer who quietly stopped ordering. The SKU three days from stockout. The margin slipping in one region while the blended number still looks fine.
