👋 Hi Product Hunt! Chris here from TransferRocket. TransferRocket is a service designed to give users more control over their file transfers than is traditionally the case with many existing service providers. Ideally, users should be able to granularly specify how long their files are stored for and the region in which they are stored. The latter is particularly important when certain contractual jurisdictional obligations must be adhered to. With that in mind, I set out to build a file transfer solution that offered the following key features: 🪄 Key features ✅ No account required ✅ No subscription required ✅ Customizable storage duration ✅ Customizable storage region ✅ Password protection ✅ Pay-per-use pricing model 🧵 Background Every now and then I would find myself in a situation in which I either wanted to send someone a bunch of files or someone had files they wanted to send me but for different reasons, we weren't able to accomplish this using the cloud storage providers we were subscribed to, nor were the people involved technically savvy enough to warrant exploring alternate means. Resolution often came in the form of temporarily increasing the quota on one of our cloud storage providers or by using one of the established file transfer services. Above a certain file size, the process for the latter can be summarised as creating an account (new users), subscribing to their service (monthly subscription), using the service, unsubscribing from their service, deleting the account (optional). More often than not, the time between subscribing to and unsubscribing from their service was a matter of days, with the remaining subscription period going unused. The same can be said for the allowed storage quota which was mostly far from being exhausted for the files transferred. While this subscription model makes a lot of sense for certain use cases, there are use cases such as this one for which a pay-per-use pricing model is a better fit from a consumer's point of view. This belief led me to develop TransferRocket, a solution designed to best facilitate these irregular one-off file transfers. TransferRocket is currently in public beta and I'm busy gathering different metrics on how the product is being used so that I can iron out any unforeseen issues and implement minor improvements. I would love to get the community's feedback on it! TransferRocket can be found here and includes a generous free tier for all users. 🚀 Product roadmap There are a couple of items on the current product roadmap that I hope to release in a future product iteration of TransferRocket namely: - Customer managed encryption keys (CMEK) - User accounts I am curious to hear what other ideas the community has for the product! TransferRocket has a strong focus on privacy and security so anything that serves either of those two goals is highly welcome. ✍️ Looking forward to hearing your feedback and happy to answer any questions you may have!

This sounds interesting, @chris_dite! The pay-per-use model is a smart move, especially for users who don’t need frequent transfers. Great idea @chris_dite! Have you thought of making shared files accessible only once or it's already there in the product?
