I'm Shaaz, a solo engineer based in India. I've been trading Indian F&O on and off for a few years, and the thing that kept frustrating me: every scanner I tried either cost ₹2-3k/month, showed end-of-day data, or was built for US markets and retrofitted for NSE as an afterthought.
So I built Mercutrade — a real-time F&O scanner specifically for Indian traders. It connects to live market data, tracks OI buildup, smart-money footprints, multi-timeframe breakouts, and institutional volume across 200+ NSE F&O stocks.
A few things I had to solve along the way that turned out harder than expected:
- Keeping the scan cache warm so the dashboard paints in milliseconds instead of waiting 30s
- Detecting institutional footprints from tick-level volume without a direct "institutional" feed (Upstox doesn't have one)
- Handling India's 3:30 PM market close and holiday calendar cleanly
