Trace AI Face Scan
Reverse face search in your browser, one photo, no sign-up
Most reverse face search tools return pages. Trace runs a second round: once the first pass produces a name or a username, it asks the platforms directly — which is how it comes back with actual accounts, not just crawled pages. Every match carries a similarity score and a source link, so you judge, not us. No sign-up, no email, no password. Uploads are deleted after 30 days, the free preview needs no account, credits never expire, and the same engine is a REST API.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
I built Trace after watching a friend get strung along for two months by an
account using someone else's photos. Everything that could have caught it existed
already — but every tool wanted a monthly subscription, an email address, or
crypto-only credits that expire. For one question you ask once, that's absurd.
So Trace does the one thing: upload a photo, get the public places that face
shows up, each with a similarity score and a link you can open yourself. It never
says "this is them" — it gives you a number and the source, and the judgement
stays yours. Runs in the browser, ~30 seconds, no sign-up and no email. There's a
free preview before any payment, and a REST API on the same credits.
Two things I want to be upfront about, because they're the first questions I'd ask:
Honesty about what it can't do — if that face has never been posted anywhere
public, the result comes back empty and no tool can fix that. An empty result
isn't proof someone doesn't exist.
Honesty about the ethics — this is a verification tool, not a background check.
Only search photos you have the right to search. Identification, tracking and
harassment are banned in the terms, law-enforcement use isn't sold, and there's a
removal page that needs no account: if your face is in our index, you can take it
out and it won't come back.
We run our own face search engine rather than reselling someone else's, which is
why a search costs cents instead of dollars.
Would love to hear where it breaks for you — especially the thin results. What
photo did you try?
I compared my own digital footprint on both platforms, FaceCheck ID and Trace; Trace AI Face Scan returned more results.
