Top Task Analysis
Understand user priorities and build apps/sites around them.
A survey tells you what users want. A top task analysis tells you what they want most. It asks users to rank their priorities, so the handful of tasks that really matter rise above the noise of everything else. Free and running in minutes.
Hi everyone,
I've been a UX consultant for about 30 years, and top task analysis is one of the few techniques I reach for on almost every project. The idea is simple. Most people come to a site or app for a tiny handful of things, but those top tasks get buried under everything else, so users can't find them. A top task analysis works out what those few things are by asking people to vote on what matters most, not just what they want.
The catch was always the process. Running one meant juggling a survey tool, a spreadsheet, and a fair bit of patience, then merging duplicate answers by hand and wrestling the votes into something I could show a client. I spent years cobbling it together with tools that were never quite built for the job.
So I built the thing I wished existed. It collects tasks, lets people add and vote on their own, and hands you back a clean, ranked list, all in one place. No spreadsheet gymnastics
It's free if you're subscribed to my newsletter, and you can subscribe as you sign up, so it's effectively free to anyone. I'd genuinely love to know what you think, and what I've missed. Be gentle, I built it in a bit of a fit of enthusiasm.
This looks genuinely useful — congrats on the launch! Love the idea of surfacing what users actually prioritise instead of guessing. Wishing you tons of signups! 🎉
Oh and I made it 100% free forever because I am old and remember the days where people on the web shared stuff just to be helpful and not as a cash-grab.
