Most free file tools upload your file to their server first. Tooldo doesn't, every tool runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly, so there's no server that could receive your file. 9 tools, no accounts, no uploads, open source.

Hey Product Hunt 👋 What inspired this: I kept hearing the same complaints from people around me. A friend gets sent a .heic photo from an iPhone and it won't open on their Windows laptop. Another friend running a small business is either paying monthly for an invoice tool or rebuilding one in Word every time. Someone else just needs a QR code and every generator wants an account first. The problem underneath all of it was the same shape, a small task made either expensive or sketchy by whatever's free online. So I built tooldo: 9 everyday file tools (PDF merge/split, image conversion, video compression, invoices, QR codes, CSV/JSON, and more), with one rule, nothing ever uploads. Everything runs in your browser, on your device. How the approach changed along the way: I originally shipped a 10th tool, a background remover using a hosted ML model. It passed every test, then started failing for real visitors, traced to the model host's CDN caching an error at some edge locations. A retry didn't fix it. I ended up removing the tool entirely rather than take on hosting the model myself, it was the only tool depending on infrastructure I didn't control, which went against the whole point of the project. That decision shaped everything after it: no tool ships unless it can run fully client-side. Start with the PDF tool if you want to see it in action, drop a file in, every page becomes a card you can drag, rotate, or remove. Open source, MIT licensed. Would love your feedback. tooldo.online

Who hunted tooldo?

tooldo was hunted by Emmanuel Onugwu. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it.
