Most app blockers have an easy off switch, but Toll doesn't. Instead of locking you out, it makes you watch an ad every time you open a blocked app (nobody likes ads!) It's like toll booth - you can always get in, it just costs you 30-60 seconds first. Annoying enough to make you pause, not so annoying you'll uninstall it. Free to use too!
Hey PH! I'm Eric.
Apple's Screen Time never worked on me. I'd hit the daily limit and tap "ignore for today" without thinking every time. Tried Opal, same deal. They all have some easy off switch I'd find the second I actually wanted it gone.
The insight that made me build this: nothing I hate more than ads. Premium app subscriptions are predicated on removing ads so I thought of making a free app where the ads are the feature :)
Been using this for a few weeks, turns out 30-60 seconds are annoying enough that I stop and ask "do I actually want to be on TikTok right now?" Usually the answer is no and the phone goes down.
Made it free because charging on top of the ads felt absurd. Would love to hear from ya'll!

Who hunted Toll?
Toll was hunted by Eric. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
