There are moments when a piece of technology changes the way you think about computing. For us, voice dictation was one of them. Not because it's new. It's been around for decades. But because AI has finally made it good enough that you stop thinking about the technology and start thinking about the interaction itself. That realization sent us down a rabbit hole. If computers can now understand speech this well, why are keyboards still the default interface? Why are we still translating thoughts into keystrokes when speech is our most natural form of expression? And why should talking to your own computer require a subscription, a browser tab, or your data leaving your device? Those questions became Tiune. We started by recreating the experience that made us believe in voice dictation in the first place. But somewhere along the way, the project became much bigger than that. We found ourselves thinking less about transcription and more about language itself. Language isn't static. Sometimes it's English. Sometimes, for those of us in the subcontinent, it's Roman Urdu. Sometimes it's technical jargon, half-finished ideas, or thoughts that don't fit neatly into any language at all. We don't think software should force people to adapt to computers. We think computers should adapt to the way people naturally communicate. That's the direction we're building toward. Today's release is intentionally simple: fast, native, offline voice dictation for macOS. But for us, it's also the first step toward a broader belief. The future of computing is less about learning new interfaces and more about computers learning ours.
