tide is a simple, self‑hostable video conference service, alternative to Jitsi. It let's you host your own "meet.custom.domain" for a simple video conferencing environment with all core features you expect, including: link sharing, screen sharing, recording (server-side). A few things, done well.
We built it out of an internal need. To own our video calls and data, but existing FOSS projects were bloated and did not cover all features well.
As a data infrastructure company, we want to be our best case study. So cloud hosting on paid SaaS was not an option.
We developed and used it internally and with clients over the past 2 months, and now it has finally reached a stable enough version to put it on GitHub and let anyone use it.
Sending zoom/meet/teams links is nice, but wait until you send your custom meet.your.domain link.
Super easy to self host. Do it yourself or ask you agent to read the context we have provided on the website.
✔️ One Go binary
✔️ Media stays on your server
✔️ Server-side recording
✔️ OIDC sign-in
Congrats on the launch, Nikitas. Love tide! What was the hardest part of getting this ready for today?
Nice work releasing this! One Go binary with media staying on your own server is an appealing setup for a small team. I like that you used it for your own client calls before putting it out.

Who hunted tide?
tide was hunted by Nikitas Filosofof. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
