I was inspired by the now-defunct Tidbyt display in my home office. I wanted to build a better mousetrap. After exploring a hardware solution it hit me - why not just build something that won't go obsolete, you can take with you anywhere, and aren't limited to any hardware platform?
The problem: The information people care about most in the moment, the scores of the games they follow, standings, their stocks, the weather, lives on a phone. Getting it means unlocking the phone, opening an app, scrolling past everything else, and doing it again ten minutes later. At a party, in a bar, or on the couch with the main TV showing one game, that constant checking pulls attention away from the room and the game in front of you. Sports apps are built for a hand-held screen and a single reader, not for a display across the room shared by everyone.
The solution: TickrDash turns any spare tablet, smart TV, or browser window into a glanceable live board. You pick the leagues and teams you follow, plus extras like standings, a PGA leaderboard, stock quotes, or the local forecast, and it cycles through big, legible cards designed for a ten-foot viewing distance. Scores update live without anyone touching anything. A separate phone-based control panel lets you change what is showing without interrupting the display.
Who it is for: Fans who want the scores that matter to them in view while they watch something else, households that want a passive "what's happening" screen, and bars or venues that want customized live data on their screens without a broadcast feed.
