Boring Notch transforms your Mac’s notch into a smart mini‑dock: music controls with album art and visualizer, a file shelf with AirDrop, upcoming calendar events, quick mirror for camera checks, and battery/charging indicators that feels native to the Mac.
I really liked NotchNook and kept encountering bugs and before I dished out money for Alcove I wanted to see if there were any open source alternatives, that's when I discovered theBoringNotch! It does everything I need so far. It's not quite as pretty as Alcove but it's just as functional as NotchNook.
Love it! Although some quite similar from couples I found when typed "spotify" on apps store, this one looks good. Especially the camera.
Just wonder like, for example, not having Spotify app on my mac, but have the account and selected "Spotify" as the source of music. Not appeared yet. Do we need to download the actual Spotify app first in our mac, or it can work if we don't download the actual app (had quite horrible experience with the Spotify app cache). Also, since the battery icon already there, kinda only need the battery percentage, already selected the option, but seems couldn't appeared for now. But overall, this so cool, and love it!
This is very cool. Installing it now! How did you decide what to keep/take out from that small real estate? Maybe make that user configurable in the future releases or do like watch themes.
Thanks, I didn't know I would actually love something like that @gabe
Okay, this is actually funny.
We all hated the notch when it arrived, and now here we are turning it into a productivity dashboard, mirror, and music hub.
Great little project, clean design, and the open-source part makes it even cooler.
