I built The Other Side around one question: what if an AI model wasn’t an assistant, NPC, or narrator—but your actual second player?
You explore the physical side of the spacecraft. Astra sees and operates the digital side: telemetry, manuals, maintenance logs, diagnostics, relays, pumps, and remote systems.
Neither side has enough information alone. Astra may know what evidence is missing without knowing where it is. You may find something without knowing why it matters. Progress comes from exchanging those pieces and adapting together.
Under the hood, the game uses GPT-6 Astra’s real async tool calling and mid-turn steering. Astra can investigate multiple things in parallel, and new information you discover can change its direction while the mission is already in progress.
The goal was to make those capabilities part of the game mechanic itself—not just put a chatbot next to a game.
This is the first playable mission, “Blind Relay.” I’d love to hear where the human–AI cooperation felt strongest, and where it didn’t.
