The Focus Button
Hardware device for ADHDers that blocks digital distractions
Distraction is one click away. Focus Button makes focus one press away. Focus Button is a hardware device that reshapes your digital environment for focus. Turn the dial, press the button, and Focus Bear blocks distracting apps and websites, switches on Do Not Disturb, and starts your session across your phone and computer. No digging through settings. No opening another app and getting waylaid by notifications. Make focus tactile, shape your environment, and get on with what matters.
When I need to focus, I don’t need another reminder to “try harder”.
I need my environment to stop fighting me.
I have ADHD, and my phone and computer are basically vending machines for distraction. Messages, news, YouTube, Reddit, email. Even when I genuinely want to work, all of that is sitting there waiting for one impulsive click.
There are apps that can help. But activating them usually means opening your phone, finding the right app, starting a timer, turning on Do Not Disturb, setting up blockers...
Which is a lot of interaction with the exact device you’re trying not to interact with.
So I wanted to move the control out of the screen and onto my desk.
That became the Focus Button.
Turn the physical dial to choose how long you want to focus. Press it.
Your environment changes with you.
Focus Bear blocks the websites and apps you’ve decided are distracting, your phone switches into Do Not Disturb, your computer goes into focus mode, and the session begins.
Instead of repeatedly choosing not to get distracted, you make the decision once and shape your environment around it.
And I really wanted that decision to feel tactile.
There’s something different about turning a real dial and pressing a real button. It creates a little ritual: this is focus time now.
If you have a favourite session length, there’s also an NFC tag built into the Button. Tap your phone against it and your preset focus session starts immediately.
It works with the free version of Focus Bear, with no paid subscription required.
Pretty cool design with the display and design being raised up. Like how low friction it is to start a focus session.
Love the concept and the design - the orange dial is very inviting! Would love to have this sitting on my work desk.
I love the idea behind the Focus Button because it tackles a problem that most productivity apps overlook: starting a focus session can itself become a distraction.
Instead of opening an app, finding the right settings, turning on Do Not Disturb and blocking distractions, you simply turn the dial and press the button, and it can put your devices into focus mode across Mac, Windows, iPhone, and Android. Having one physical control for all your devices makes the experience feel much more natural than trying to manage focus separately on every device.
The physical interaction is surprisingly powerful too. It creates a small ritual that tells your brain, “this is focus time now.”
We built it because we wanted focus to require less willpower and fewer clicks. Really excited to finally share it with the Product Hunt community!
We built it around a simple idea: technology should help you focus without becoming another thing that demands your attention. The physical button makes starting a focused work session feel almost effortless.
