The Birth Year Chronicle
Turn any birth year into a newspaper-style keepsake
Pick a birth year, add a name, choose their interests and get a personalized one-page chronicle filled with hit songs, headlines, what things cost, who was born, and more. Every card is unique and free. Share it as a link. No app or account needed. Perfect as a last-minute birthday gift that actually feels personal.
Hey PH! I built this because I kept seeing those "Back in 19XX" posters on Etsy selling for $5-15 each, but they're all generic PDFs. I wanted something that's personalized to the person's actual interests.
Pick a year, add a name, select up to 3 interests (movies, music, sports, tech, etc.) and the app generates a newspaper-style card with curated facts from that year. You get a shareable link, paste it in iMessage, email, WhatsApp, wherever.
Built with Next.js, hosted on Vercel. All year data is hand-curated (1950-1990). Images are CC-licensed from Wikimedia Commons.
Would love your feedback. Is this something you'd share with someone for their birthday?
I'm also particularly interested in any ideas on if and how this could be monetized.
