Hi Product Hunt! 👋 I’m Jerome, the maker of Textwhisk.

The problem: small text tasks keep interrupting your work

Changing case, collecting snippets, translating a paragraph or summarizing a passage can mean copying text, switching apps and repeating the same steps.

Textwhisk brings the next action to your selection. It’s a macOS menu-bar utility with a floating action bar, everyday text tools, reusable offline rules and optional AI.

✍️ Everyday text tools

  • Change case: uppercase, lowercase and Title Case.

  • Word and character counts: optional counts with click-to-copy.

  • Clipboard append: collect selected text into your clipboard.

  • Local favorites: save up to 50 snippets for later.

  • Offline spelling suggestions: get suggestions for a selected word without an AI call.

⚡ Create buttons for tasks you repeat

Choose between two types of custom action:

Rule-based actions - run locally
Paste your own JavaScript, or use AI to generate a rule once and reuse the saved rule offline. Pasting and running your own rules does not require an AI key.

Prompt-based actions - use AI each time
Save instructions such as “rewrite in a formal tone” or “summarize as three bullet points,” then apply them to selected text using your own provider key.

24 ready-made Text Recipes help you get started with cleaning text, formatting lists, extracting links, converting time zones and more.

🌍 Summarize and translate

  • Text summaries: turn longer passages into shorter takeaways.

  • Web-link summaries: fetch and summarize a linked page.

  • Translation: translate into 43 languages or follow your Mac’s language preference.

AI is optional. Local text tools and saved rules run on your Mac; AI actions send the relevant text and instructions to your chosen provider. Provider charges or limits may apply.

🛠️ Make the workflow your own

  • Customizable toolbar: show, hide and reorder action buttons.

  • Sticky result cards: move cards around and keep up to five open while working.

  • Approximate currency conversion: convert recognized prices using cached exchange rates.

  • Caffeine controls: keep your Mac awake for 1, 2 or 4 hours, or indefinitely.

  • Optional desktop companion: choose Fox, Poppy, Robot or Paper—or switch it off.

  • Preferences: choose your language and currency, and pause Textwhisk when needed.

💳 Pricing and compatibility

$6 USD once for one Mac at launch; the regular displayed price is $12. No app subscription. A purchased license unlocks the app; there is no free plan or trial. AI provider usage is separate.

Textwhisk is available for Apple Silicon Macs. The current build is not notarized by Apple yet and requires Accessibility permission; installation instructions are on the website.
