Tessa tiles your windows and gets out of the way. Nine desktops, one keystroke each. Split or master-and-stack per desktop. Independent desktops on every display. It uses only the macOS Accessibility API. No SIP changes, no kernel extensions, no Terminal. Every shortcut, gap and rule is a switch in a settings window, not a line in a config file you have to learn first. The config file exists if you want it. 14-day trial. One-time purchase, two Macs, no subscription.
I've used xmonad, i3 and Hyprland for years. Hyprland is the friendliest of the three by some distance, but all of them taught me the same thing.
I started on xmonad in 2018, on Ubuntu, and it was an eye opener. You become noticeably more proficient when everything is at your fingertips and your hands never leave the keyboard. On a single monitor it is the difference between working and managing windows. macOS has never really had an answer to that. Stage Manager looks lovely and I have never once found it practical.
yabai and AeroSpace exist and they are good, but both ask you to go and live in a config file, and neither lets you see a change as you make it. That was the thing I hated most in my xmonad years: recompiling Haskell thirty times to find the gap size I actually wanted.
So Tessa puts all of it in a settings window. Gaps on sliders you can watch move. Every shortcut rebindable with a recorder, so you click the field and press the keys you want. Apps to leave alone, picked from a list instead of typed as bundle identifiers. Layout mode per desktop, split or master and stack.
And it uses only the Accessibility API. One permission, no SIP disabled, no kernel extensions, no Terminal.
Me and some of my friends at fairly well known companies use it on a daily basis, and I am happy to share it as a final product to all of you.
Looking forward to any questions I may be able to help with.

Who hunted Tessa?
Tessa was hunted by Martin Kirilov. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
