TempoTunes builds playlists by tempo (BPM) and genre — set a pace, shape the mix with genres and artists, and save to Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, or YouTube Music.
Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I built Tempo Tunes for my own mountain-bike and snowboard days. I wanted music that matches the pace of the ride, and every "workout playlist" I tried fell apart the moment the tempo drifted: one song at 165 BPM, the next at 92.
Tempo Tunes flips it: tempo is the input, not an afterthought. You set a BPM (a flow-trail cruise, a runner's 180 cadence, a 130 spin class, whatever your thing is), pick genres or artists you actually like, and it generates a playlist where *every* song holds that tempo. A tolerance control decides how strict it is, and an Obscure↔Popular slider decides whether you get deep cuts or hits.
And tempo curves just shipped (v1.1.0): shape a whole playlist with Steady, Rise, Bell, or Fade instead of holding one flat BPM.
Under the hood is a BPM database of over 1.4 million tempo-verified tracks, growing daily through seeding and crowd-sourced uploads, that I've been building and re-analyzing nightly for months. That's the part that took 90% of the work.
The look is half the fun: the whole app is styled after old school cassettes, J-card inserts and all, in a throwback brown-and-gold palette borrowed from the classic San Diego Padres, and the wave logo literally does the wave while your playlist builds.
You can save any playlist to Apple Music, Tidal, or YouTube Music. Spotify is in an invite-only beta for now (their extended-access rules require 250k monthly users before an app can go public; happy to talk about that in the comments).
It's free. I'd love to hear what tempo you run/ride/lift at, and what's missing.
Stay in Tempo with Tempo Tunes.

Who hunted TempoTunes?
TempoTunes was hunted by Dion Isselhardt. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it.
