Tempora was born from real frustration with how shifts are managed today. The idea came from a healthcare worker on TikTok who described shift‑publishing days as an emotional rollercoaster, and from friends in shift‑based jobs who were tired of filling out paper forms, juggling coworkers’ requests, and manually matching people to shifts based on skills, availability, and rules. Even in companies that use personalized ID badges for access, the “badge and badging” process can be slow, fragile, and stressful—especially when hardware fails, queues build up, or employees forget their cards. A simple QR code check‑in on their phone can make those days smoother: it reduces time wasted at the entrance, gives a reliable backup when readers go down, and creates an automatic, tamper‑resistant record of who worked when. I chose to build Tempora because: Shift work is still run on spreadsheets, paper, and ad‑hoc messages. That creates confusion, favoritism perceptions, and last‑minute chaos for managers and staff alike. Compliance and proof of work matter. In healthcare and other regulated fields, you need clear, timestamped records of who was on shift, for audits, payroll, and liability. Employees deserve fairness and clarity. A transparent system for publishing shifts, collecting preferences, and enforcing rules reduces drama and makes schedules feel more objective. Technology should remove friction, not add it. By combining digital shift publishing, preference collection, and QR check‑in, Tempora turns a messy, emotional process into something predictable and auditable—without relying on flaky hardware or stacks of paper. In short, I built Tempora to replace the stress, paperwork, and badge‑reader bottlenecks with a simple, fair, and reliable system that works for both employees and management.
