It listens to whatever your computer is playing, from a Spotify tab to a local file, and fills the screen with visuals that move to the beat. Nine modes, from a 3D bar field to a WebGL kaleidoscope, six dark palettes and a riso three-ink look. Free, nothing to install, no sign-up, and your audio never leaves the page.

Unpopular opinion: the best thing Windows Media Player ever shipped wasn't the player. It was the screen you stared at while the song played. Battery, Ambience, Bars and Waves... whole evenings disappeared into those.
Then music moved into streaming apps that have every song ever made, and most of them give you nothing to look at but an album cover.
Tayf is my attempt to fix that. Open it in a browser, share the tab where your music is playing, hit full screen. That's it. No install, no sign-up, no plugin from a sketchy 2006 download site.
What you get:
:level_slider: Nine modes on keys 1–9. Bars is a 3D field where the last few seconds roll off toward the horizon. Vortex is a WebGL kaleidoscope that keeps falling into itself.
:printer: Everything is printed like a risograph: three ink plates that slip out of register on every kick drum.
:art: Six dark palettes, or let it change colors on its own.
:cyclone: Press K for psychedelic mode. Consider yourself warned.
:lock: Your audio never leaves the browser. Tayf doesn't want your music, just its shape.
Tayf means "spectrum" in Turkish, which is exactly what it draws.
Now, two challenges:
Put on the most unhinged track in your library and tell me which mode survives it.
Hot take: Bars and Waves was better than MilkDrop. Agree, or come defend Winamp in the comments.
Works in Chrome and Edge. Anywhere else you can still use a mic, a file, or the built-in demo track.
