TaskLoco originally was an invention I tried to market back in 2010 under a different name.
The lawyers said without a patent I could be sued out of business.
So, I wrote the application and in 2013 was awarded U.S. patent US8548992 for it.
Sadly, in 2015 the company I founded to market it under, MultiTask123 went bust and the product died a quiet death.
When it came time to renew the patent in 2017 I made a decision.
Locking up software ideas with patents felt wrong and putting it into the public domain meant anyone could create their version of it.
Good ideas should help everyone.
So I decided to let the patent expire and enter the public domain.
Now it belongs to everyone like all software ideas should. 💚
In 2024, I quit my day job and decided to take another shot at the dream.
Two years later TaskLoco.com is the result.
