Hey Product Hunt 👋 There's a line in Task Gremlin's onboarding that took me longer to write than some features: "When everything is urgent and nothing is small, your head locks up. That's not laziness, it's overload." Every productivity app I tried was built for people who can already start. A clean empty list. A blank chat box. Both quietly assume the hardest part is already done: knowing what to do first. On my worst days, it isn't. So Task Gremlin opens on a bench of seven small specialists instead. Each one exists because I kept getting stuck in the same specific moments: • Brain Sort: dump the whole pile ("messy is welcome" is the actual placeholder) and get back a starting list that goes straight into a plan. • Time Guess: "reply to all my emails" in, a workable range out, with a buffer slider from Lean to Generous, because those are different days. • Decision Map: the thing you've circled for a week. Both sides, one next move. • Rewrite: your message, twelve tones. Direct, Warm, Concise, Dry… • Tone Check: for the email you *received* and have now read nine times. • Explain It: any topic, depth slider from Simple to Deep. • Pantry Plan: eggs, half an onion, sad spinach. Dinner. Underneath the bench there's a full planner: nested plans, routines, momentum tracking. But the part I'd actually defend in an argument is the microcopy, because that's where an app's real values live: • Focus mode shows one step and says "Just this one." • "Skip for now" sits right next to "Mark done." Same size. Skipping is a decision, not a failure. • Skip everything and it says "Take a breath, or circle back." • A rest day says "Momentum stays intact. Rest is part of the rhythm." • The streak math has a built-in grace day, and un-checking something later corrects the original day instead of punishing today. Streaks should measure momentum, not fear. Boring-but-important: your plans and history stay on your device (JSON export included).
