Hi Product Hunt 👋 When I was a kid, my family would gather on the sofa to watch a VHS of some special moment. The tapes almost always had a theme, and everyone in the room got to live it all over again. I still remember how good that felt. Then one day I realized my daughter might never have that. We don't have VHS tapes anymore, or DVDs, and I'm not even sure Blu-rays still exist. So how was I supposed to pass that tradition on to her? What I do have is about four thousand videos on my phone, mostly 1 to 5 minutes long. Half the time I can't tell where or when they were filmed unless I dig into the metadata. A slideshow wouldn't work. It would give me 45 seconds of my dog, then 3 minutes of a rock concert, then my daughter taking her first steps, all in a row, as if they were the same kind of moment. Sorting them by hand would take ages, and editing them together is something I didn't even want to think about. So I built Tapeflix. It goes through the videos you already have and turns them into episodes you can sit down and watch together, the way we used to: Tapeflix tries to give that back. Point it at your video library and it builds short episodes: an opening card, pacing, music, a title, a poster. You don't pick clips and you don't edit. You grant access, confirm, and an episode arrives. Then you watch it on your phone, or cast it to the television, which is where it actually belongs. Some things I learned building it: Faces were the hard part. Everything runs on-device, and Apple has no public face-identity API — the feature print you get is really a scene classifier. Nothing about your videos is public. No feed, no profiles, no comments. Clips are uploaded only to build your episodes, encrypted in transit and at rest, and the originals are deleted after the episode is made. It is slow by design. A real episode takes minutes of processing. You get a notification when it's ready. Free gives you a first episode from up to 10 minutes of footage. Pro adds new episodes weekly, longer episodes, unlimited seasons, and downloads. It's iPhone-only today, built by one person, and I'd rather hear what's wrong with it than what's right. I'm here all day :)
