Magic Mouse owners know the sound: click, click, click at 11 pm, through the whole flat. The trackpad got tap-to-click years ago. The Magic Mouse, same glass surface, never did. Tap2Click fixes that. A light touch is a click, two fingers is a right-click. Nobody wakes up, your finger stops hammering, and everything else on your Mac works exactly as before. For night owls, people working from a shared home, and anyone whose partner, kids or cat sleep next to the desk. Free, tiny, open source.
Hi everyone 👋
We built Tap2Click for one reason: the Magic Mouse click is loud, and at night the whole home hears every one of them. Partners, kids, the cat on the desk.
macOS has tap-to-click for the trackpad, but not for the Magic Mouse, even though it has a touch surface. The only option was a paid gesture suite with hundreds of features we didn't need. So we wrote a tiny native app that does one thing: a light touch is a click.
What it does:
• Tap = left click, two-finger tap = right-click, double-tap = double-click
• Three tap speeds: Fast / Normal / Relaxed
• Ignores resting fingers, scrolling and physical clicks, so no stray clicks
• Lives in the menu bar, launches at login, reconnects after sleep
• 0.4 MB, Objective-C, zero CPU when idle, no accounts, no tracking
It needs the Accessibility permission once (that is how any app sends clicks on macOS), and that's it.
Free and open source, from the Tourist.com team. Made with love, not for profit. If your home is also tired of the clicking: https://tap2click.me
Happy to answer anything about how the touch detection works.

Who hunted Tap2Click?
Tap2Click was hunted by Anna Weber. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
