Hey Product Hunt 👋
I built Talk Me Out of It because most shopping technology is designed to help us get to checkout faster. I wanted to explore the opposite question: what if technology helped us pause before buying?
TMOI starts like a virtual fitting room — upload a photo, choose a garment, and see a real YouCam Apparel VTO result. But then it asks five very ordinary questions about occasion, duplication, budget, care, and regret before giving you a simple verdict: worth trying in person or skip it.
During DoraHacks, we added an Ask-a-Friend loop so the second opinion doesn’t have to come only from software. You can share your look with someone you trust and bring them into their own fitting room.
I’d especially love feedback on one thing: Would you actually use this between “I want it” and “I’m buying it”?
Just went through the product and the onboarding is surprisingly clean. Nice work!
I really like the idea behind this! The fact that you can see what the clothes would actually look like on you gives you a much better idea before buying. And I really like the questions at the end too, it makes you think twice about whether you actually want it or if it’s just an impulse. Such a cool and useful idea!

Stack: Next.js + Redis + image gen API. Hardest part was making the AI give an honest answer instead of a flattering one.
And — this morning a Discord user DM'd me about her experience.
She tried a green jacket and the thing she noticed wasn't the anti-impulse framing. It was that the face didn't warp. Her line: "didn't even mess with the face like how gpt does sometimes."
I'm not sure if 19% activation is a product problem or a "virtual try-on is hard to demo" problem. PH community — would love your take.
