Take A Test is a self-hostable online exam platform for educators, bootcamps, recruiters, and researchers. Create secure, proctored assessments with MCQs, long-answer questions, webcam verification, Safe Exam Browser support, anti-cheat protections, invite-only access, and manual grading. Keep full ownership of your data, avoid per-candidate SaaS fees, and deploy on your own infrastructure with modern security built in.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
I built Take A Test because every proctored exam tool I looked at was either $10/candidate SaaS or a bloated LMS. I wanted something a solo instructor, bootcamp, or hiring team could self-host in an afternoon.
What it does:
* Fullscreen enforced, clipboard blocked, tab-switch detected, webcam snapshots every 15s
* Safe Exam Browser integration with Browser Exam Key verification
* Invite-only allowlist — only emails you add can even see the test
* Correct answers never leave the server (grading runs in a Postgres SECURITY DEFINER function)
* Single-use access codes per candidate, rate-limited unlock
Stack: Next.js 15 + Supabase + Tailwind. MIT license.
Would love feedback—especially from anyone who's run remote exams and hit the "candidate opened DevTools" problem. What's the sketchiest thing you've caught?
