I kept two copies of my work, one on the MacBook and one on an external SSD, and I could never remember which side was newer. Every few months something drifted: a file existed only on the SSD, another only on the laptop, and I'd spend an hour diffing folders in Finder.
Cloud sync felt like overkill for folders that never need to leave my desk, and rsync works but I kept fumbling flags and forgetting my own shell scripts. I wanted one button: this folder is the truth, make the copies match it.
So I built SyncMirror. One source folder, any number of mirrors, one Sync button. The part I care about most is the safety rails, because sync tools are scary when they go wrong:
a preview before every run showing exactly what gets added, updated and deleted,
a hard stop on anything that would wipe more than half your files,
and timestamped snapshots that warn you when the last one is getting stale.
