SVGym optimize your own SVG (100% local)
Optimize SVGs beyond SVGO, verified, 100% in your browser
SVGym is an open-source (MIT) SVG optimizer that goes beyond SVGO. It verifies every change by rendering the image before and after each step and reverting anything that drops visual quality, so files come out smaller but never broken, with hover states, animations, and media queries preserved. The browser tool runs entirely on your device (nothing is uploaded), and the CLI optimizes single files or whole icon folders into a sprite sheet.
Hi all, I built this because SVGO applies one fixed set of plugins to every file (which is why SVGOMG exists for hand-tuning), and I wanted an optimizer that adapts per file and guarantees it never breaks the image. Deterministic by default (no API key, no network), with an optional AI fallback for the hardest files. I also wrote up how it was built, using an LLM to discover the optimizations and then compiling them into deterministic code: https://same-fridge-b15.notion.s... . Would love feedback on where it falls short. Try it: https://maziars.github.io/svgym/...
