I've been learning Swedish since moving to Sweden, and the biggest lesson so far: vocabulary is everything — and almost no tool is actually built for accumulating it.
Dictionaries are made for linguists, not learners. Flashcard apps hand you an empty box: make your own cards, find your own word lists, figure out your own review schedule. Course apps teach you their words, not the ones you actually meet.
SveLingo is my attempt to fix that, with three design decisions:
- Look up anything, effortlessly — search in Swedish or English, in any word form ("gick" finds "gå"), hear it pronounced, save it in one tap
- Never plan a review again — spaced repetition schedules every word for you; your job is just a few minutes a day
- Flashcards that actually teach — interactive card types instead of flip-and-guess, plus word books curated for each level
It's free on web (svelingo.com) and iOS. Android is on the roadmap.
