Most AI image tools stop at one-shot generation. SurgePix keeps going: edit any layer, swap text, repaint a region, and stay on-brand with your brand kit. Or skip the UI — open-source agent skills let Claude Code & Cursor generate and edit visuals for you.
SurgePix puts the whole job in one place — no juggling a dozen tools. Its built-in design agent can even search the live web and design straight from what it finds.
It started with a simple frustration: every AI image tool I tried was great at generating something new, but the moment I wanted to tweak a color, swap a headline, or keep things on-brand across a whole set of visuals, I was stuck starting over.
The latest models — GPT Image 2.5 and friends — are genuinely amazing at generating that first image, or that first slide.
The problem starts after: I'd generate a whole deck in one click, then spend an hour fixing headlines, swapping charts, and getting every slide back on-brand. That redo-from-scratch gap is exactly what SurgePix is built to close — for decks, and for every visual you make.
So we built SurgePix around three ideas:
Edit, don't regenerate: brush over any area to repaint it, split a flat image into editable layers, or pull the text off an image to retype it
Upload your brand assets once, and every output stays on-brand
For developers: SurgePix ships as open-source agent skills, so Claude Code, Cursor, or any AI agent can generate and edit visuals for you — right from your terminal, no browser needed
We're still early and shipping fast. Would love to hear what you think, and what you'd want SurgePix to do next.
Layers that stay editable after the agent is done is the part I care about. When my agent builds a video I always want to nudge one thing by hand without redoing everything. Can you call it from an MCP client, or is it API only for now?
The agent-skills part is what caught my eye. We generate social posts for online stores through n8n, and the pain is always the image that's almost right but needs one text fix. Can an agent call a single edit, like swapping the headline on an existing layer, through an API without Claude Code or Cursor? And does it render Arabic text correctly?
The edit-don't-regenerate angle is what stands out to me. Most of my time with generated visuals goes to fixing one headline or color after the fact, so keeping text editable and the brand kit applied across a set makes a lot of sense. I'm also curious how the agent skills handle a request that spans multiple layers — does it keep the rest of the layout untouched while it repaints just one region?
I spend way too much time fixing AI generated slides... Curious to try this!
Congrats on the launch, Yichi! The open-source agent skills caught my eye, since I already run Claude Code for most of my builds. Does the skill need a SurgePix account, or can it run from the terminal on its own?
When I swap a headline on one layer, does the brand kit keep the font spacing and fit the new text automatically? Curious how it handles much longer translated text.
can i upload my own image and split it into layers, or only generated ones?
Being able to swap the text on one layer without regenerating the whole image is the exact thing that kills my flow in every other AI visual tool, so letting Claude Code call it directly is a smart second door.
a headline change should not mean rolling the dice on the whole visual again
being able to pull text out and edit it separately is the part i would start with
